Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. They was moved to Oxfordshire when she was five years old and attended the Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor by the age of six. Over the course of several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing, dancing and acting. By the time she turned 10, she had already taken part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's debut film appearance came as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It also was the film that was most popular in 2001. Its opening days and weekends of the sales were record breaking. The film received praise from critics, as were the performances of its three starlets. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance. Emma received five nominations for her exceptional performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in a Film.
